Saturday Tours

If you intend to spend the weekend following the conference to visit beautiful Switzerland, then you may be interested in one of the following tours that we have selected for you, and for which we have obtained competitive prices from a tour company who is an official partner of Zurich tourism. Three different tours have been selected and are described below.

If you are interested in joining any of these tours, please inform us before September 1st 2010. Due to the requirement for a minimum participation, we will then inform you whether the tour is still happening.


Option 1: Private city tour of Zürich

Duration: 2 1/4 hrs
Content: Discover this unique city, winner of the award "City of Best quality of life" in a comfortable air-conditioned bus! See the castle-like National Museum, the shopping and business centre on Bahnhofstrasse, the Limmatquai with its medieval Old Town and view to the Lindenhof, where the brave women of Zurich saved the city from the invaders, the largest church clock-face of Europe on St. Peter, the patriarchal Guild Houses, the Opera house with its famous June-Festivals, the lake. Enjoy the great experience travelling uphill on the cog-wheel railway (Dolderbahn) into the "Zürichberg" district with its recently renovated noble five-star Grand Hotel Dolder and many superb mansions of glorious past times. Additional highlights are the University and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zürich). Its most famous student and professor was Albert Einstein. Finally there will be a stop in the Old Town at Fraumünster Church, where you will admire the world-famous Chagall-Windows with detailed explanations. After a short introduction to the Old Town the city tour will end here.
Price per person: between CHF 30.00 and CHF 50.00, depending on the number of participants (with a minimum of 15 participants).


Option 2: Luzern

Duration: 9 hrs (full day).
Content: Don't miss the visit to this lovely Old Town . Coach ride over the Albis Pass and along the shores of Lake of the Four Cantons to Lucerne with its many attractions. Short City Tour with main sights: Lion Monument, Chapel Bridge, Town-hall, Jesuit Church, Concert and Congress Hall. Then you enjoy six hours on your own to discover this unique place. We suggest a visit to the Transport Museum: the most eminent museum for transport and communication in Europe or the Rosengart Museum with works of the famous artist Picasso and Paul Klee. Delight yourself with a romantic boat trip on Lake Lucerne, take a ride with the City Train (40-minutes round-trip) or just enjoy a stroll with nice shopping in the medieval streets!
Note:All activities are optional and not included in the excursion price.
Price per person: between CHF 55.00 and CHF 100.00, depending on the number of participants (with a minimum of 15 participants).

Additional lunch: For lunch, you may also want to taste a selection of traditional Swiss dishes in a typical Old Town Restaurant meanwhile you enjoy real Swiss Folklore with Alphorn, Yodelling & Flag-throwing. An unforgettable experience! (additional CHF 55.00 per person).


Option 3: Luzern & Mount Pilatus

Duration: 9 1/2 hrs (full day).
Content: Lovely coach journey to Lucerne. Short city tour with the main sights of Lucerne and visit to the Lion Monument. Time at leisure. Continuation to Kriens, from where we take the panoramic gondolas and aerial cableway to the summit of Mount Pilatus (7000ft/ 2132m). Unforgettable view over the surrounding mountains and lakes. Descent on the world's steepest cogwheel railway (48% gradient) to Alpnachstad, followed by a lovely boat ride (1.5 h) to Lucerne. Return to Zurich by coach.
Price per person: between CHF 120.00 and CHF 170.00, depending on the number of participants (with a minimum of 15 participants).

Alternative: If you would prefer not to take the train and boat to return to Lucern from Pilatus, but use the gondolas both ways, then you will be offered a lunch at the altitude restaurant of Pilatus (choices: Rösti with Bratwurst, or as-much-as-you-want, or Rice with vegetables (vegetarian dish)) .
