This workshop addresses state-of-the art and emerging techniques for modeling and simulation of digital urban environments and real world applications. The target audience of this volume are computer scientists and software engineers involved in urban modeling and simulation, and architects and urban planners involved in shaping today's and tomorrow's digital design chains. The main purpose of the workshop is to provide specialists an overview of this growing, multidisciplinary field and to strengthen the community involved in it.

The workshop will be organized in several sessions of increasing scale and abstraction, starting at room and building level, proceeding with a main focus at urban and metropolitan scale and ending with observations at regional and global scale.

Modeling and simulation should be the core contributions at each scale, complemented with additional topics such as data acquisition, model calibration and validation, generative methods, interactive techniques, or information visualisation. We particularly encourage contributors to highlight interdisciplinary approaches.

Submission information:
Applications to the workshop are invited in the form of brief abstracts (approximately 150-300 words long) formatted according to the eCAADe2010 paper guidelines ( Contributions may include examples of the digital design chain and express interests in using the software in a particular workflow. The submitted contributions will be assessed by the workshop committee, with the view of covering the breadth and depth of the suggested topics.

Please submit your abstracts by emailing the workshop chairs by the 30th of August 2010.

Technical requirements:
Participants are required to bring their own laptops to provide software demonstrations. For PowerPoint presentations the organizers will provide the necessary infrastructure.

This workshop is open to eCAADe 2010 conference participants only.
